The Weather Channel Makes Their OTT Channel Even Better

The Weather Channel maybe hard to find as a cord cutter but they do have a version for cord cutters. Local Now is owned by The Weather Channel and is offered on several live TV streaming services such as Sling TV and soon YouTube TV.

Local Now is similar to Local on the 8s and offers a quick rundown of weather, sports, local news, national news, and traffic. Now it is partnering with the Cheddar to offer even better news coverage. Now during their rotating new coverage you will find updates from Cheddar a live news service. Cheddar describes themselves as “a new video news network focused on covering the most innovative products, technologies, and services transforming our lives”.

“This is a natural fit. Like Cheddar, Local Now aims to keep viewers informed on the most important daily information,” said Jon Steinberg, CEO of Cheddar in a statement on their site. “The Weather Channel’s OTT service is on so many of the major OTT platforms, like Sling and Youtube’s forthcoming bundle, as well as all the major cable bundles, so we are thrilled to bring Cheddar to their audiences on these platforms.”

“We created Local Now with the modern audience in mind, so bringing Cheddar into the fold is a natural fit as we expand our current offerings of local news, weather, traffic, and lifestyle content to now include national business updates,” said Freddy Flaxman, COO at The Weather Channel. “We’re excited to partner with a network that shares our vision to innovate how young people are consuming and viewing content in real time.”

Hopefully The Weather Channel keeps working with more cord cutting services to improve its offerings to cord cutters.
