While we don’t have all the details of the new streaming service (we expect to know more after Apple’s event on March 25), we have heard about negotiations with HBO, Starz, and Showtime to provide premium content. That’s in addition to the original programming that we know Apple has been working hard to develop for their subscribers.
We’ve also heard that Apple was hoping to bring in other services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, to create channels, allowing users to find all of their content through the Apple service.
Netflix has now commented that they won’t be a part of that plan.
Instead, Hastings says he believes Netflix will “learn lessons” from the competitor, saying that “we will make this a better industry if we have great competitors.”
With Apple already announcing that they plan for their streaming service to compete with big names like Netflix and Hulu, we can expect to see each company working hard to release high quality, original programming to win over viewers.
