How to Watch YouTube TV on Roku Players

Yesterday we broke the news that you can now cast YouTube TV to Roku players from phones and tablets. Many readers wrote in not sure exactly how that works.

Update: Google just updated YouTube TV to pull support for Roku Players. Details can be found HERE.

So we wanted to take a minute and explain how casting YouTube TV to Roku players works. (For now this only works on Android phones and tablets.)

Here is a video demo of how to watch YouTube TV on your Roku app:

You can also follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have the YouTube Roku Channel installed on your Roku Player.
  2. Next, download the YouTube TV app to your phone or tablet.
  3. Sign in or signup for YouTube TV.
  4. Start playing the channel you want to watch.
  5. Tap on the video on your phone or tablet to find a cast button in the top-right corner of the video.
  6. Click on that video and select the player you want to cast the video to.

NOTE: Your Roku and phone or tablet must all be on the same Wi-Fi network. Your Roku player or TV must also be turned on.

There you go. You can now enjoy the YouTube TV on your Roku player.

Side Note: There is still nothing posted about this on Roku or Google’s website. It is possible this was released early by mistake and could be turned off.
