Watch the Trailer for Hulu’s Lin Manuel Miranda Documentary

Hulu’s new documentary We Are Freestyle Love Supreme is set to debut on the streaming platform Friday, June 5th. The new documentary chronicles Lin Manuel Miranda’s improve hip hop crew he formed before he became the household name Broadway star he is today.

The Freestyle Love Supreme group had a successful off-Broadway run last year, wrapping things up in January with a culminating performance. The documentary features appearances by Miranda, Arthur Lewis, Christopher Jackson, James Monroe Iglehart, Veneziale, Chris Sullivan, Bill Sherman, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Andrew Bancroft and Kail.

Filmmaker Andrew Fried began chronicling the Freestyle Love Supreme group in the summer of 2005, documenting their early days of beatboxing and rapping on the sidewalks—unaware of how their story would unfold. Fourteen years later, Fried captures them reuniting for a series of shows in New York City that led to a triumphant run on Broadway. Both poignant and inspired, We Are Freestyle Love Supreme recalls the creative dreams of youth and why this show still means so much to these accomplished performers.
