Warning $0.99 Hulu Subscribers: You Could Lose Your Promotional Pricing if You Change Anything

Many Cord Cutters News readers took advantage of a great deal Hulu was offering back in November, offering a Hulu limited commercial plan for just $0.99 per month for the first 12 months. This Cyber Monday deal was available only for new subscribers and those who had not been subscribed in the past 12 months.

Hulu has three plans available – Hulu with limited commercials for $5.99/month, Hulu without ads for $11.99/month, and Hulu + Live TV for $44.99/month. Hulu CEO Randy Freer has commented that he wants customers to have the freedom to switch between these plans, depending on what they want to watch.

That flexibility is great for most users, but those who are enjoying the $0.99/month promotional pricing should consider not switching plans. When you move from one plan to another, you’re no longer considered a new customer. That means that if you switch back, you’ll no longer be eligible for the promotional pricing.

So, you might be watching Hulu with limited commercials for $0.99, then start a free trial of Hulu + Live TV. When the trial is over, you might want to switch back to Hulu with limited commercials. At that time, the option for the $0.99 promotional pricing will be gone and your plan will now cost $5.99/month.

If you’re on a plan with promotional pricing and want to try out Hulu + Live TV, you might want to subscribe through an entirely new account to avoid losing that pricing.
