WarnerMedia is Partnering with JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot for TV, Movies, and More

WarnerMedia, AT&T and Bad Robot are teaming up to to develop original projects including TV series, films, games, and content for digital platforms.

This comes from an announcement from Bad Robot Chairman & CEO J.J. Abrams and co-CEO Katie McGrath, along with AT&T President & Chief Operating Officer, and CEO WarnerMedia John Stankey.

“WarnerMedia and AT&T are delighted to launch a long-term collaboration with our world-class partners and colleagues J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath. We are extremely excited about the potential to deliver remarkable and memorable stories and characters across multiple platforms to audiences around the world,” said John Stankey, WarnerMedia CEO, in a press release.

As part of the collaboration, Bad Robot will continue to develop and produce new television projects — including dramas and comedies, longform/event series, digital content and more, according to the press release. That will include cable networks as well as WarnerMedia streaming platforms including HBO and HBO Max.

Bad Robot will honor existing obligations to Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams is directing and producing the release of The Rise of Skywalker, the final installment of the Star Wars Skywalker saga.

Abrams has been working with Warner Brothers since 2006 when the two made an overall deal for Bad Robot and Warner Brothers Television Group. That agreement was renewed in 2012 and again in 2015.
