Warner Bros. Discovery Wants to Bundle Max With Other Streaming Services Like Disney+ & Paramount+

Next week Warner Bros. Discovery will relaunch HBO Max as Max and bundle all of its content into a single streaming service. No longer will you need to pay for HBO Max and Discovery+. Now though it seems that Warner Bros. Discovery doesn’t want to stop there as they look at ways to bundle with other streaming services like Disney+ and Paramount+.

“It seems very clear that if we were to package this great product that we have with others, we would wake up tomorrow, and in each market, if we are the number one, or two, or three product, if we were marketing with the number two or three for a specific price it would be great for consumers. It would probably reduce churn. We would [all] be marketing one product. And it would provide a meaningful consumer experience.” Said David Zaslay the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery speaking at the MoffettNathanson event according to Deadline.

“If we don’t do it to ourselves, I think it will be done to us. It will be Amazon who does it, or Apple who does it, or Roku who does it. They’ve already started,” he said.

The ability to manage multiple streaming services into a single bill and app has become popular recently. Apple, Roku, Amazon, and others have all started to allow you to pay for multiple services through a single app. Amazon’s Channels for example lets you pay for services like Max and Paramount+ through Amazon and watch them through Amazon’s Prime Video app.

Now it seems that Warner Bros. Discovery is open to making deals directly with other services to bundle their services together, hopefully into a cheaper deal instead of paying for each service separately.

The idea of bundling services together is being proposed by a major streaming service owner is showing how cord cutting is maturing from a startup to a more mature market.
