As traditional movie theaters continue to adjust their various reopening plans, the classic drive-in format is seeing something of a comeback during the current coronavirus pandemic. And with plenty of vehicle-friendly real estate available, Walmart says it’s partnering with Tribeca to open up “drive-in” theaters at some of its store locations.

The company says the program will kick off in August at a certain locations around the country, though it hasn’t shared specific stores just yet.

There’s also no word on movie selections, but the company does have a website you can check out for updates as August draws closer. It’s fairly easy to understand the appeal of a drive-in theater these days — groups of people can gather together for a shared experience while maintaining safe distances and confining themselves within their respective vehicles.

We’ll keep an eye on Walmart’s plans, including potential movies and showtimes, and we’ll update as we learn more.
