Walmart Rolling Out to Deliver Alcohol in 5 More States

The retail giant already delivers alcohol to 18 states and is set to bring the bottles to an additional five states. Consumers in Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, and Ohio can now add wine and beer to their grocery deliveries.

Laws in these states changed so now Walmart can offer delivery in approximately 2,500 Walmart stores in 23 states. The company began delivering alcohol in 2019, first to California and Florida. Walmart also started to allow around 2,000 stores to provide brews via grocery pickup services across 29 states.

Most stores allow customers to buy alcohol or wine but some of these alcohol-deliverable locations can also sell spirits for curb pickup.

Now closing in on half of the country, Walmart is making it easier (and safer) for consumers to purchase alcohol. Just like at a bar, customers will have to show a valid ID and can’t be intoxicated nor can anyone under age accept the delivery.

As outlined on Walmart’s webpage:

You can include alcohol in your delivery or pickup order if state or local laws allow it. You’ll find alcohol under the shelves marked Beers, Wines, and/or Spirits (under the Beverage department).

We’ll remove alcohol from your order if you:

In some states, local laws may ban the sale of alcohol during certain business hours.
