Walmart Now Offers Free Returns From Home Including Groceries

Today Walmart announced a new feature for its Walmart+ service that will allow you to return products from home for free—no need to print labels, mail items back, or visit a local Walmart.

Walmart hopes this new service will help it stand out from the crowd of grocery delivery services by addressing one of the most annoying parts of grocery delivery. In the past, if a substitution was made too close to delivery that you didn’t want, you couldn’t decline the change. Instead, you had to return the item to your local Walmart for a refund. Now Walmart will come to you to pick up the grocery items you didn’t want.

To start a return, Walmart+ customers can go into their purchase history on the website or Walmart app and select the “Returns from home” option. There you can schedule a pickup window for a local delivery driver to come and pick up the items from you.

You must be home when the driver arrives to pick up the item, and you will need to show the driver a barcode on your mobile app.

Walmart says Walmart+ customers do not need to box up any items or print any labels to use this service.

Not all items can be returned through this program, but most should be eligible.

Walmart is clearly hoping its no Walmart+ benefit will help it stand out from Amazon and others by making returns as easy as possible.
