Walmart is Closing Another Store, Joining a List of Over 20 Stores

This year, Walmart announced the company will close a number of underperforming stores. Most of the closures are Walmart’s Neighborhood Market locations which are basically a Walmart-lite grocery store only version of the Supercenters. 

Walmart is downsizing its number of locations as the company shifts focus to encouraging customers to place more online orders via Walmart+ and shifting in-store purchases to its Supercenter locations, according to a report from Richmond BizSense.

Another Walmart has been scheduled to close, this time in Richmond, Virginia which opened in 2015. Walmart spokeswoman Felicia McCranie has announced the store will shut its doors on July 28th.

Around 100 employees run the store located at 5221 Brook Road in Northside. Walmart has said they will be eligible to move to the 17 other stores still running in the Richmond area.
