Vudu Puts Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker On Sale Early

Star Wars

It appears Disney’s not done with the early home releases. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was slated for a digital release on March 17th, is available for purchase through Vudu a few days early.

Prices start at $19.99 for the SD and HDX versions of the film, while the 4K option is going for $24.99. Last month, a press release on the official Star Wars site listed a March 17th digital release, while physical versions on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD were set for a release on March 31. While the purchase option was apparently bumped up by a few days (just in time for the weekend), rental options on Vudu remained grayed out, pointing to the originally slated March 31 availability date.

This early release comes on the heels of Disney’s surprise announcement that Frozen 2 will arrive on its Disney+ streaming service this weekend, months ahead of its anticipated release date. Entertainment companies are continuing to adjust planning and scheduling to adapt to widespread changes from the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
