Deadline reports that sources have told them that the deal was made official, despite coronavirus, even with sports being a large part of the agreement. FiOS has also made a deal with the regional sports network SNY.
The deal will allow Verizon to carry all Viacom channels, including CBS and dozens of other networks. “Distribution has been a top priority for CEO Bob Bakish since he took the reins at Viacom,” Deadline notes. Ray Hopkins, who previously headed up distribution at CBS, was made head of distribution for ViacomCBS after the merger.
Verizon and ViacomCBS have not yet commented on the agreement.
