Now according to Variety the service is said to be coming out as soon as June 2017. It is reported that Verizon is waiting for its Yahoo deal to close in June before it launches its live TV streaming service.
Details are still thin, but it seems Verizon is using its FiOS TV service deals to create its live TV service. That may result in the service being limited to areas that have FiOS TV services because no reports of any new deals with companies such as Disney have leaked.
This would not be the first video streaming service from Verizon. A few years ago Verizon launched Go90, a video on-demand streaming service, on phones and tablets.
For now we will have to wait to find out what kind of service Verizon will launch. Pricing, DVR, channels, supported devices, and more are all still unknown at this time. Though with the now very crowded field of live TV streaming services, Verizon will have to work hard to catch up to Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and DIRECTV NOW.
