Yesterday Verizon officially brought back an unlimited data plan starting at $80 a month if you sign up for paperless billing and automatic payments. You can add additional lines for $45 per line for up to four lines under a family plan. (Not including fees and taxes.)
There is a catch that will prevent many from making this their main streaming option. Once you hit 22GB of data used in a single month on a single line you become subject to throttling. If the network is congested high data users could see their accounts slowed.
This is similar to other networks that also make usage subject to throttling at or about 22GB a month.
T-Mobile, Sprint, and others have used unlimited data as a way to standout from Verizon. Now that Verizon has jumped on the unlimited data bandwagon it may drive other networks to become more aggressive in their offerings.
As always competition is good for the end users. When users can easily move back and forth between services it drives these services to be more aggressive to attract and keep users.
