Verizon Fios Lost 67,000 TV Customers in The 3rd Quarter of 2019

Verizon Store FrontToday Verizon announced their 3rd quarter 2019 subscriber numbers. According to the report, Verizon Fios lost 67,000 TV subscribers in just three months. This comes as Verizon Fios residential video customers decreased by 52,000 in the 2nd quarter of 2019. Verizon Fios did add about 30,000 internet customers in the 3rd quarter of 2019. Overall Fios revenues went up.

“Verizon continued its momentum in the third quarter by driving strong wireless volumes in both our Consumer and Business segments, while delivering solid financial results, highlighted by continued wireless service revenue growth, increased cash flow, and EPS growth,” said Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg. “We are focused on our 5G rollout strategy, looking to deploy next-generation networks while enhancing our industry-leading 4G LTE network. Going into the fourth quarter, we are energized by the strong performance of the business and we are confident in our strategy to drive value for our customers and growth for our shareholders.”

Comcast has also reported its first-quarter 2019 numbers, and so far over 224,000 people canceled their pay-TV service this year. This comes as Comcast just lost 224,000 TV subscribers in the 2nd quarter of 2019 a dramatic shift from 2018 when Comcast added 22,015 TV customers in the 3rd quarter.

In total, Comcast, Spectrum, and Fios have lost 368,000 subscribers that work out to be 4,000 TV subscribers lost every day.

Soon AT&T, DISH, and others will post their 3rd quarter 2019 earnings reports. With AT&T reportedly ready to report over a million lost TV subscribers, we could see the total number of TV subscribers lost in the 3rd quarter of 2019 to be over 2 million.
