Verizon Announces Plans to Roll Out 5G Internet to 20 New Cities in 2019

Today Verizon announced plans to bring 5G internet to 20 new cities in 2019. These cities include Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Phoenix, Providence, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Washington DC.

Verizon says these markets will get 5G mobile internet and some of them will also get its “5G Home broadband internet service.” Currently, Verizon is selling 5G home internet for $50 a month with no data cap and about 300 Mbps down. Sadly Verizon did not say which of the 20 new markets will be getting 5G home broadband internet service.

Verizon also announced that the new Galaxy S10 5G will support 5G. “The Galaxy S10 5G on Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network will give our customers access to incredible speeds and the latest and greatest streaming, augmented-reality, gaming, and consumer and business applications that bring us into a future powered by 5G,” said Ronan Dunne, executive vice president and president of Verizon’s consumer group. “With the rollout of 5G in more than 30 markets by the end of 2019 and the upcoming launch of Samsung’s first 5G Galaxy smartphone, we are pulling further ahead of the competition in 5G.”

Verizon is not the only provider working on 5G home internet. AT&T, T-Mobile, Dish, Sprint, Charter, and more are all working on 5G home internet.
