Users Reporting ATSC 3.0 Channels Are No Longer Working on NextGen TV Boxes

ADTH customers with NextGen TV boxes started posting in forums, including AVS Forum and Reddit, to say that their ATSC 3.0 channels have stopped working.

The ADTH NextGen TV ATSC 3.0 USB Tuner promises to bring high-quality content to viewers by improving the TV viewing experience with higher audio and video quality, including up to 4K resolution, HDR, and immersive audio.

ADTH, a supplier of cable and satellite equipment including the NextGen TV box, notes that ATSC 3.0 is a hybrid broadcast and IP-based delivery standard that uses OFDM modulation instead of 8VSB modulation. It supports more robust transmission for reception on both fixed and mobile devices, datacasting capabilities, and more accessibility, personalization, and interactivity.

Interestingly, the latest system update shared by the company was in September 2025, but issues with ATSC 3.0 channels only seemed to start popping up recently.

Instead of the channels working as normal, one user said this is the message on the screen: “This channel is content protected. This device does not have permission to play this broadcast. Please try another service.”

On AVS Forum, ADTH responded to the comments, saying:

Hi everyone,

We are preparing a software update focused on improving ATSC 3.0 DRM playback reliability and overall consistency.

A beta build will go out first, followed by a broader rollout once testing is complete.

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing feedback on the product.
