UFC Freedom 250: Dana White Predicts “Super Bowl Numbers” for Paramount+’s Historic White House Card

In a recent interview with TNT Fight Sports, UFC CEO Dana White sat down to break down what he is calling a “one-of-one event.”

The upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card isn’t taking place in a traditional arena, Las Vegas, or the Apex. Instead, the Octagon is being constructed directly on the South Lawn of the White House. During the interview, White made a massive prediction for the event’s exclusive streaming home, Paramount+:

“We’re expecting Super Bowl-type numbers for this fight.”

A bold prediction for the streaming-exclusive event that will be unlike anything the company has ever attempted. For reference, the last Super Bowl to air on Paramount+ was in 2024. The platform said users streamed 2.64 billion minutes of the Super Bowl LVIII matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

Across other Paramount properties, including broadcast TV and Nickelodeon, that game averaged over 120 million viewers. Sunday’s MMA event won’t have the benefit of free TV, and it will also face stiff competition from the biggest international sporting event of the year, the 2026 World Cup.

“It’s definitely a one-of-one event,” White said. “When you think about where we came from and how this sport started, and how it was frowned upon in the United States, to now be heading to the White House is pretty surreal.”

The card is sn’t just a major milestone for the UFC, but also for Paramount’s massive 7-year, $7.7 billion streaming and broadcast rights partnership with TKO Group Holdings (UFC’s parent company). The event is taking place on Sunday, June 14, which also coincides with President Trump’s 80th birthday.

At the intersection of politics and sports, this massive collaboration also lands right in the middle of ongoing corporate shifts at Paramount’s CBS News division. Following a high-profile legal battle with President Trump involving a 60 Minutes interview last year, the news program has undergone significant structural adjustments, including the recent departure of veteran anchor Scott Pelley.

Critics may be debating the editorial direction of CBS News during this transition. Meanwhile, Paramount and the administration are in lockstep on the sports front, transforming a ringside idea into what White says could become one of the year’s most‑watched streaming events.

Expect a Production Unlike Anything UFC Has Ever Done

According to White, the unprecedented event came together remarkably fast, originating from a casual conversation while sitting ringside with President Trump.

“The president of the United States is a huge fight fan,” White explained. “We were at a UFC fight, and he looks at me and he says, ‘You know what we should do, a fight at the White House.’ And I was like ‘Yes, yes, we should, I’m in.’ That’s literally how it started.”

White emphasized that the project moved from a casual idea to active planning almost instantly. “He’s the type of person he doesn’t say something and not do it. Literally from that night on, the next day, you know, he reached out and said, ‘Let’s start figuring this out.'”

For viewers, the sheer scale of this event represents an incredible production pivot and a massive moment for Paramount+. The streamer will showcase an arena-grade sports broadcast on the secure grounds of the South Lawn, which requires extensive logistics.

White also teased that main event fighters will make their walkouts directly out of the Oval Office.

UFC Executive Producer Craig Borsari noted that security screenings mean moving equipment and crew onto the lawn takes “5-6 times longer” than a standard venue. Because the site lacks built-in infrastructure, the crew is bringing in more than 50 generators and assembling a custom structural rig—dubbed the “Claw”—to hang the lighting and audio packages over the cage.

“If we don’t win every production award for the White House fight, they should just stop doing production awards,” White said.
