Twitter Adds 360 Video & Periscope Global Map to Its Apple TV App

Twitter has slowly been moving into video as one of the main focuses of its business. Last fall Twitter had huge success with its NFL deal, and now it hopes to grow its live video service.

Twitter has apps for Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku. Now Twitter is updating its Apple TV app to include several new features.

First Twitter has added a global map to its Apple TV app. With this map you can see the location of live Periscope streams to see what is happening around the world.

Now when there is a major event somewhere in the world, you can use this map to see if there are any live Periscope videos coming from that area.

Twitter has also added 360-degree video to allow you to look around the room like you are there. To do this, Apple TV owners can use their Siri remote to go around the video and see any angle they want.

Currently only the Apple TV has these features, but Twitter has typically rolled out these updates to other apps fairly quickly. Hopefully the Fire TV, Android TV, and Roku will all get these new features soon.
