Twitch Returns to Roku Players

A few weeks ago Amazon quietly pulled their Twitch app from Roku players. If you already had the Twitch app installed on your Roku player, you could keep using it; however, Amazon announced it was removing its app from the Roku Channel Store.

Now Twitch is returning to Roku players with the Twitched Roku Channel, thanks to developer Rolando Islas.

Here is how the Twitched Roku Channel is described:

Twitched is an unofficial video player for the Twitch streaming service. Watch top streams, search, or browse followed streams.

With Twitched you will find a long list of features including the ability to sign in to your Twitch account to find your favorited channels.

Before Twitch came to Roku with an official app, there was an unofficial app for the Roku player. Now, once again, an unofficial app has returned to Roku players for subscribers who no longer have access to the official Twitched App.

Back in 2014, Amazon purchased Twitch for a reported $970 million. Amazon has slowly been building Twitch features into Amazon in their efforts to use it to promote Prime and items on Amazon.

Cord Cutters News has reached out to Twitch and Amazon’s PR teams for comment, but both teams declined to comment.
