Twitch Opens Up Beta Program for Watch Parties Feature

Twitch announced it’s opening up a beta version of its new Watch Parties feature to Twitch Partners in the US, with plans to expand in the near future. The feature allows creators to view a selection of Prime Video movies or TV shows alongside their viewers and offer picture-in-picture commentary and reactions as they watch.

The available content includes a mix of curated movies and shows, including classics and newer Amazon Originals. You can view the full list here, but some highlights include America’s Next Top Model, Marvel’s The Avengers, Star Trek, Stargate Atlantis and SG-1, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Twtich tested earlier versions of Watch Parties back in October and in announcing this new beta period, it cited the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to maintain shared experiences. The beta is currently open to Twitch Partners in the US with active Prime memberships. Viewers interested in attending also need their own Prime memberships. The company added all creators in the US (with Prime memberships, that is), will have access “in the coming weeks.”
