Tubi, the ad-supported streaming service owned by Fox Corporation, has announced record-breaking viewership for its Super Bowl LIX broadcast. The platform’s simulcast of the FOX Super Bowl LIX broadcast reached a peak of 15.5 million concurrent viewers and an average minute audience of 13.6 million. This marks a significant increase from previous Super Bowl streaming records and highlights the growing popularity of free ad-supported television platforms.
“Tubi is proud to have partnered with FOX Sports to deliver the most streamed Super Bowl ever, marking a major milestone for free ad-supported television,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi. “Tubi started as a scrappy underdog in streaming. This is a full circle moment as we achieve new levels of scale and cultural resonance with viewers.”
In addition to the record-breaking Super Bowl stream, Tubi also saw strong viewership across its game day programming, with 24 million unique viewers tuning in for coverage starting with the FOX Super Bowl LIX Pregame Show.
Tubi leveraged FOX’s state-of-the-art live streaming operation in Tempe, Arizona to deliver a high-quality 4K live stream with minimal latency. The platform also hosted a red carpet pre-show event featuring interviews with celebrities and athletes.
The Tubi Red Carpet at Super Bowl LIX, hosted by Olivia Culpo, featured special correspondents such as Rocsi Diaz, Cam Jordan, Taylen Biggs, and Kyle Smith. The event included appearances by numerous celebrities, including Donna and Ed Kelce, Louis Tomlinson, Reggie Bush, and many others. Tubi also launched a shoppable experience alongside the red carpet program, allowing viewers to purchase items from curated digital stores.
These record-breaking numbers demonstrate the growing appeal of free platforms like Tubi, which offer viewers free access to a wide range of content, including live events like the Super Bowl. As streaming continues to evolve, free services are poised to play an increasingly important role in the media landscape.
