Tubi Sees Strong Growth in 2023 with Streaming Hours Jumping 59% & Monthly Active Users Hitting 78 Million

One of the fastest-growing areas in cord cutting is free ad-supported streaming services. Now we get an idea of just how fast cord cutting is growing.

Today Tubi announced that the number of hours it streamed content jumped 59% in 2023 according to a report sent to Cord Cutters News. This pushed Tubi to more than 8.5 billion streaming hours in the same year. On average, 56% of its viewers streamed one to three hours of programs in a single stream and 40% watched three or more hours in a single stream.

“Viewers love Tubi because we provide frictionless access to a massive library of content where they can experience the thrill of discovering entertainment they can’t find anywhere else,” said Cynthia Clevenger, Senior Vice President of B2B Marketing at Tubi. “Tubi’s growth reflects a broader consumer shift towards ad-supported streaming and understanding next gen audiences is critical for us to create a differentiated streaming experience. We’re proud to extend these insights to marketers, sharing how to best connect with Gen Z and Millennials.”

According to Tubi, 58% of its viewers would rather watch ads while streaming than pay full price for a streaming service. This includes 67% saying they would rather watch ads that are related to what they are currently watching.

Tubi also reported that 96% of all Americans are interested in nostalgic content—something Tubi has covered.

Lastly, Tubi has hit 78 million monthly active users.
