A Ton of New Fire TV Apps Are on Their Way

It looks like Amazon is about to take a page out Roku’s playbook with a new Amazon Creator system. Last week an app showed up called the Amazon Creator Preview, a new app that will allow anyone to easily make Fire TV apps without the need for a huge amount of programming experience.

This is something Roku has been doing for some time—making it easy to use prebuilt app templates to create Roku Channels. Now it seems Amazon wants to do the same thing with an Amazon Creator service.

Last week Amazon released an app for the Fire TV called Amazon Creator Preview. According to the description the app will allow creators to preview their new apps. “Amazon Creator Preview app allows app creators to preview their apps created from Amazon Creator.”

Now what exactly is “Amazon Creator,” because I was unable to find any details of the service in the Amazon Fire TV developer pages.

For now we will have to wait and see what Amazon does with this new app and the new Amazon Creator but taking some educated guesses from the descriptions and images it looks similar to Roku’s templates that help developers quickly build Roku Channels. Yet it looks like Amazon just made it easy for anyone to quickly make a Fire TV app.

So keep an eye on Amazon Creator, because I expect Amazon is about to be making some new announcements about it soon.
