TiVo Says its Stream 4K is Still Coming ‘In the Next Few Weeks’

Way back in January, when TiVo announced its Stream 4K streaming device at CES 2020, the company said it’s new device would launch in April 2020. But with the month drawing to a close, TiVo updated its plans to say the product should still come to market within “the next few weeks.”

Matt Milne, TiVo’s chief revenue officer, reportedly shared the update during Future Media’s Virtual Spring TV Week conference, and added that the company has been continuing with launch plans despite challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Android TV-based streaming player is designed to be an affordable option for those looking to use popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but with a unified, TiVo-like user experience. It even includes a scaled-down take on the company’s familiar peanut-style remote control. Milne also shared that the company is investing more than $100 million to improve content discovery.

The device itself is a small HDMI dongle that’s roughly palm-sized as opposed to the consoles many might associate with the TiVo brand. The pricing plan includes an introductory $50 launch price before the Stream 4K settles in at a $70 price point at a later date.
