TiVo Announces Another Update to Fix Bugs

TiVo Stream 4K and Remote

TiVo will be releasing another update to resolve more issues that the TiVo Stream 4K had at launch. This time, the update will address a problem with HDR.

Those who have been using the new device since it launched in May have been reporting the HDR issue that frequently uses the wrong standard and leaves HDR in “always on” mode. Caused by a 4K TV and the device not pairing together correctly, it can cause problems with image quality on the app interface and while watching content. We noted the same issue in our full review after the device left our test TV in Dolby Vision HDR mode whenever it was on.

A TiVo rep told CNET that the update will be rolling out this month and will fix the HDR issue as well as giving users the option to manually turn off the “always on” mode. Until that update reaches all users, TiVo suggests choosing HDR10 as the default in the settings. (Settings > Device Preferences >More > Screen Resolution > HDR10).

This is the second update to address issues users have been having with the TiVo Stream 4K since launch. Earlier this month, TiVo rolled out an update to fix problems with blank screens and Ghost TV, which was causing connected TVs to randomly power on.
