Time Inc. Launches a FREE Streaming Service Today

Family watching TVMagazine publisher Time Inc. is jumping into the quickly growing world of streaming media, bringing their popular People and Entertainment Weekly magazines to cord cutters with a host of original full-length shows.

The new streaming service will be available on streaming players such as Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google Chromecast. The service, called PEN for short, goes live today September 13, 2016. PEN will start with more than 50 hours of existing programming from Time Inc. and their magazines including the Emmy-nominated documentary series “A Year in Space.” The network will also roll out more than 300 hours of new programming throughout the year, which will include 15 original series. Some of the highlights from its first week of streaming include interviews with Jimmy Kimmel, Patrick Dempsey, and Rory Feek. It will also offer a documentary on children who lost parents they never knew during 9/11 as well as a special about the Emmy’s red carpet.

“PEN is designed to be a network for the future with its premium long-form video delivered directly to consumers through multiple platforms and channels,” Rich Battista, president of Time Inc. brands, said in a statement.

PEN joins a growing list of streaming services in the United States where, at last count, there are over 100 streaming services available.
