Three Things We Wish Amazon Instant Would Change

Amazon-Prime-Instant-VideoAmazon Instant is the second-largest streaming service in the United States after overtaking Hulu about a year ago. Yet there is a lot that still needs to change. Here are three things we wish Amazon Instant would update.

First

More control over the auto-play feature. I love auto play, and I wish I could have more control over it. Amazon auto play plays six 30-minute episodes before stopping. If you fall asleep during the first episode you just wasted five episodes worth of your data cap. Netflix stops after three episodes, but I wish I could control how many episodes play before it checks to make sure you are still awake.

Second

Within the different apps, like the Roku version, I wish content was more clear. It shows some Prime content, but I wish it would allow you to say “Prime Only” when searching for a movie or TV show instead of having to browse the Prime area to find something to watch.

Third

I wish Amazon Instant would bring back an Unbox type service. I travel a lot and miss the ability to download my shows and movies to a Windows PC. I also miss the ability to download shows I always re-watch like my daughter’s Dora episodes. I saved a lot of GB by having a season of my daughter’s favorite shows downloaded. At this time Amazon does not offer a way to easily download your shows or movies and watch them on your TV because they shut down their Unbox serve.

So that is our short list of three things we want to see changed over at Amazon Instant. We do love the service—just wish we had more control over it.
