Three Things Amazon Video Should Change

I am a huge user of the Amazon Video service (formally known as Amazon Instant) with almost 100 seasons and a dozen movies in my library. But there have been a few things that have really bugged me about the service over the years.

So, here is my short list of three things that bug me about Amazon Video.

#1 Emails

One of the most frustrating things about the Amazon Video service is receiving emails for everything you do. I fully understand an email when you pay for to rent or buy something, but why send emails when the content is free?

Last night I watched a one-minute preview for a new season of American Dad. After I watched the one-minute video I noticed an email from Amazon thanking me for my purchase of the free one-minute promotional video.

If I didn’t pay anything for the video, I would rather not have one more email clogging up my inbox.

#2 Pin Verifications for Free Content

Almost every new season of a show has some free content. It could be a free first episode or bonus material for the season. One of the most annoying things about this is having to enter your pin in order to watch the free preview of a season to decide if I want to watch it or not.

It may seem minor but if you are trying to keep your pin from the kids, having to add the pin every time you watch a free episode or bonus video really adds up.

Again if it’s free why do I have to act like I am paying $100 for it?

#3 Paying Full Price for a Season Even if You Own Some of the Shows

This one started about a year ago when Amazon updated how the Season Pass works. Often I buy one or two episodes before I buy a full season to make sure I enjoy the show. I would rather spend $1.99 than $20 before I know if I will enjoy it. Now, even if you already bought two or three episodes, you still have to pay full price for the season.

I miss the old system that would give you credit for shows you purchased.

There are my top three pet peeves about Amazon Video that Amazon needs to fix. They seem small but when you use the service often they really add up.
