This Lost Roger Corman Film Starring Mark Hamill Can Only Be Found Here For Free

In 2013, Virtually Heroes, a film produced by Roger Corman and starring Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Then, just as abruptly, it vanished.

This lost film was recovered after Screen Media bought the rights, and this Tuesday, you’ll have a chance to watch the film for free on Crackle.

Directed by G.J. Echternkamp and written by Matt Yamashita, Virtually Heroes is a comedy action film following two self-aware characters in a Call of Duty-style video game. Starring Robert Baker (Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) as Books and Brent Chase (Bosch) as Nova, the two struggle to overcome their main character syndrome while living as actual video game characters. It’s tough being a hero every day.

Mark Hamill (Star Wars) plays a Monk who guides the two soldiers in their journey of self-exploration and continuously saves a reporter (Katie Savoy, Sequestered) who keeps getting kidnapped.

Virtually Heroes was produced by Roger Corman with a limited budget, but big ideas. Corman has produced over twenty war films and used stock footage from those movies to create the action-packed comedy that took almost a decade to be picked up for a limited theatrical and availability for online purchase in December.

And now, it’s coming to Crackle for free.

Crackle is a free ad-supported streaming platform featuring full-length movies, television series, and original programming.

You can tune in via your television, mobile devices, set-top boxes, video game consoles, and online at Crackle.com. It’s free and easy to create an account. Just sign up with your email address, create a password, and start Crackling.

Crackle’s content library changes, so there’s no telling how long Virtually Heroes will be available. Check out the trailer to get a sneak peek. It looks like a wild ride.
