These 15 Cable TV Networks Saw the Biggest Drop in Viewership in 2023 – Including VH1, Paramount, Disney XD, & Starz

2023 was a hard year for cable TV networks as most of them lost viewership. So that raises the question of who lost the most viewers by percentage of their total audience when looking at primetime viewership.

According to Variety, here are the 15 cable TV channels that lost the most viewership in 2023:

  1. Sportsman Channel Lost 50%
  2. Galanovelas Lost 50%
  3. Discovery En Espanol Lost 48%
  4. Disney XD Lost 40%
  5. Discovery Familia Lost 35%
  6. Nat Geo Mundo Lost 35%
  7. Azteca Lost 34%
  8. VH1 Lost 36%
  9. Reelz Lost 34%
  10. Nickelodeon Lost 34%
  11. Nick Jr. Lost 34%
  12. Travel Lost 33%
  13. Starz Lost 31%
  14. Paramount Lost 30%
  15. Discovery Life Channel Lost 29%

Increasingly, networks that don’t offer live events—especially live news and sports—are being hit hard by viewers moving to on-demand.

How long will some of these networks hold on if they lost 50% of their audience in 2023? Spectrum dropped Disney-owned Disney XD, which lost 40% of viewers in 2023. Which other networks could be leaving major cable TV companies?
