Over the next few days, WWE Network subscribers will start to see changes to the app. PWInsider.com had the opportunity to take a look at the changes and shared them on their blog. For others, the changes will roll out based on platform and not all devices will necessarily update at the same time.
Over the next few months, WWE Network will be introducing a tiered system which will include a free tier with limited WWE programming. A VIP tier will also be introduced later which will include “additional programming similar to the EVOLVE 10th anniversary celebration that WWE Network streamed earlier this month.” The timeline for introducing the tiers is still unknown.
In the meantime, subscribers will be seeing some major changes to the WWE Network. Those changes start with a sleeker design and better organized content. WWE PPVs, Raw, Smackdown, and WWE NXT will each have their own spot on the menu, rather than being grouped under Shows. The events will also have chapter marks, making it easy to navigate to the parts you want to see.
With the redesign, you’ll get more Netflix-like experience. Carousel style sections will let you browse content more easily. These sections also make it easier for WWE Network to display featured content. PWINsider.com speculates that the network could later use that space to promote ticket sales and new events.
Another new feature is the Superstars section. There, you’ll find current Champions with info about each individual and a menu to find the events they’ve been in. Looking for a specific person or match? The new search feature will make it easier to find exactly what you want to see.
Within the app, users will notice some smaller but important updates as well. Filters allow you to narrow down content and find specific programming. A skip feature allows you to skip part the opening of some shows to get right to the content. And more accurate labels will let you look at seasons and episodes rather than air dates.
With the current updates and the changes WWE Network will be rolling out in the upcoming months, subscribers can expect a huge improvement in their viewing experience.
