The WWE Is Looking for New Streaming Partners to Replace the WWE Network

Excited Sports Fans Cheering at TVThe WWE Network was a groundbreaking streaming service when it launched as one of the first major streaming services that would let you subscribe to watch a sporting league directly without a cable TV subscription.

Recently WWE Network subscriber numbers are down, and the owners are looking to partner with an existing streaming service like Amazon to offer WWE content. This comes per the WWE’s earnings call earlier this week.

The WWE will likely find many interested potential buyers as sports has become a hot streaming topic. With the growth of on-demand and DVRs many services have turned to live events as a way to get customers to watch commercials. This makes content like the WWE valuable because not only can you sell subscriptions but you can also sell ads that are more likely to be seen than for a traditional program that people DVR.

The WWE said if they reach a deal, they would be making an announcement in the first quarter of 2020. So, WWE fans shouldn’t have to wait long to learn more.
