Today The Weather Channel is launching a free streaming service called Local Now Plus. With Local Now Plus, cord cutters will be able to stream local news, weather and even free movies without a cable TV subscription.

Local Now Plus launched today, December 19th, 2019. It includes more than 150 movie titles that all users can access within the new Local Now Plus app. The new Local Now Plus app is now live on the Fire TV and will be rolling out to then Apple TV, iOS, and Android Devices over the next few days. Support for Roku will be added the first week of February 2020.

The Local Now Plus app can be added to your Fire TV HERE.

From the looks of it, this new free streaming service from The Weather Channel will be built on the popular Local Now channel. Now though you will also find free movies to watch on-demand with ads.

The Weather Channel says they will continue to post updates about Local Now Plus as 2020 continues. With this new app, cord cutters across the country will finally have access to the weather updates and Weather Channel content we’ve been waiting for.
