The Washington Post is Coming to Amazon Freevee Service

Today The Washington Post announced a deal to launch a free live channel on Amazon’s Freevee service.

The Washington Post Television will be available for free 24 hours, seven days a week, with content from its journalists to new audiences – providing an additional destination for breaking news as it happens, exclusive interviews with newsmakers, and in-depth reporting from the front lines.

The new channel will go live on May 6 2023. Washington Post Television will offer continuous coverage of King Charles III’s coronation, anchored by Washington Post Senior News Anchor Libby Casey in London, alongside Washington Post Senior Correspondent Rhonda Colvin and Contributing Royal Correspondent Sarah Hewson. Washington Post Editorial Writer and Columnist James Hohmann will report from outside of Buckingham Palace, giving the latest on-the-ground updates on this historic day.

On Amazon Freevee we will be able to reach audiences who are increasingly looking online to get their news and entertainment,” said Micah Gelman, Director of Video at The Post. “This is a new avenue for us to broadcast breaking news with our incredible reporting team, helmed by Libby Casey who brings a deep understanding to a wide range of issues with her experience in breaking news, political stories and major events. We are thrilled for new audiences to seek out her reporting during important news moments.”

Washington Post Television will also offer additional content on Freevee, including coverage of with the world’s top business leaders, entertainment personalities and authors as part of Washington Post Live, the newsroom’s live journalism platform.

Amazon Freevee is available on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and as a free Channel within Prime Video. Freevee is also available as an app on Roku, Samsung smart TVs (2017-2021 models), Comcast’s Xfinity Flex, Xfinity X1, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA SHIELD and other Android TV devices, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, as well as LG Smart TVs (2018-2021 models). The app is also available on iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices.
