The Basics
Sony’s live TV streaming service, PlayStation Vue, is designed to let cord cutters watch and record live and on-demand content. With a user-friendly guide, it’s easy to find the channel or content you’re looking for, whether it’s airing live or available from the on-demand library.
With the PS Vue DVR, you can record content and watch for up to 28 days after it airs. Click on the My DVR tab in the app to watch your recordings on any compatible device.
With your PS Vue account, you can create up to 10 profiles. Each profile has its own DVR and allows individual users to set their own unique preferences and receive personalized recommendations.
You can watch on up to five devices simultaneously.
Plans and Pricing
You’ll still find the same 4 packages to choose from when signing up for a PlayStation Vue subscription. PS Vue has a five-day free trial to try out any of the channel packages before starting your monthly subscription.
When comparing prices of streaming services, keep in mind that one recent change has been that PS Vue has started charging sales tax in more states.

What’s Changed?
Let’s start with what hasn’t changed. PS Vue is still offering the same 4 subscription packages – Access, Core, Elite, and Ultra – at the same prices.
Since our last PS Vue guide, PlayStation has added loads of local channels. Check out some of those updates here, here, and here.
As Cord Cutters News readers have noticed and pointed out in our weekly YouTube live streams, the streaming service hasn’t made many recent updates to their standard channel list. We saw the addition of a few channels including Cheddar Big News, Baby TV, and Tastemade, along with dropping channels including MGM HD. We’re hoping to see some new additions in PlayStation Vue’s future.
We’ve also seen updates to PS Vue’s apps on different devices. From small tweaks to make the features work more smoothly to larger updates like making on-demand content more accessible, each change has improved the subscriber viewing experience.
Amazon Fire TV users recently saw a larger update. PlayStation Vue is now a part of the Fire TV channel guide, with live channels showing up on the home screen. You can use your Alexa remote to search for and tune into your favorite shows.
After Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida commented that PS Vue wasn’t going anywhere, we might be on the verge of seeing big improvements in the streaming service in the upcoming months.
