The Ultimate Guide to PlayStation Vue (Updated April 2019)

This week, PlayStation Vue’s Core Plan went on sale for $39.99/month for the first two months, down from the regular price of $49.99/month. The sale has prompted some questions about the streaming service, so we’re back with an update to our PlayStation Vue Guide.

Plans and Pricing

When you sign up for a PlayStation Vue subscription, you’ll have 4 plans to choose from.

Each level has something different to offer. The Access plan is the most basic and offers popular channels like ESPN and Disney. The Core plan adds sports channels including ESPN News and the MLB Network. The Elite plan adds movies from channels like Epix and FXX. Finally, the Ultra plan adds premium channels including Showtime and HBO.

Supported Devices

You can watch PlayStation Vue content on the following devices:

What You Can Watch

The channels you’ll get will depend on the plan you choose. The Ultra plan offers all of the available channels on PlayStation Vue. Here’s what you’ll get with that plan:

Along with the channels offered in each package, there are several add-on channels and bundles for an additional monthly fee.

There are also several premium channels that can be subscribed to as standalone channels or added to any of the PlayStation Vue plans.

Simultaneous Viewing

PlayStation Vue will let you watch 5 streams simultaneously. However, you can only watch on 3 away from your home area, including smartphones and tablets.

Cloud DVR

A PlayStation Vue subscription comes with “unlimited” Cloud DVR storage that will allow you to record up to 500 programs. Your content will be saved for 28 days. After recording, you can watch at home or on the go. You can fast forward through recorded content on all channels except Fox, FX, and FXX.

Recent Changes

The big news with PlayStation Vue lately is the deal on the Core Plan. From 4/23/19 to 5/6/19, you can sign up for the Core Plan at a reduced price of $39.99/month for the first two months. That’s a 20% savings.

Back in March, PlayStation Vue subscribers noticed a new channel, Spotlight, on their channel guide. The Spotlight Channel was added to all plans and serves as a guide for using the streaming service and mastering all of the features available. PlayStation Vue has also been adding new affiliate channels, bringing local content to more viewers.
