The Trailer For Babylon 5: The Road Home is Now Live & We Now Know The Release Date

Babylon 5 is coming back with a new animated film, Babylon 5: The Road Home. The announcement was made by creator J. Michael Straczynski last month. Now thanks to Amazon, we can see the first trailer already posted online and the release date.

J. Michael Straczynski worked on the original series as a writer, director, and producer in addition to playing a maintenance worker in an uncredited role. The series spawned from a 1993 made-for-television movie and ran from 1993 to 1998 totaling 110 episodes over five seasons. This upcoming film, deemed by Straczynski as a “love letter to the fans”, will take off where the television show concluded. Matt Peters has signed on to direct while Straczynski will be a writer and producer.

Bruce Boxleitner is returning to the series as the voice of John Sheridan, along with Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Peter Jurasik voicing Londo Mollari, Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander, Tracy Scoggins as Elisabeth Lochley, and Bill Mumy as Lennier.

New voice actors are joining the crew, including Paul Guyet as Zathras/Jeffrey Sinclair, Mara Junot as Reporter/Computer Voice, Anthony Hansen as Michael Garibaldi, Piotr Michael as David Sheridan, Phil LaMarr as Dr. Stephen Franklin, Rebeccas Riedy as Delenn, and Andrew Morgado as G’Kar.

New and returning will blend together as John Sheridan is transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities as he tries to return home. This is not the first time Sheridan has traveled through time. In the original series, he saw his own future. The time traveling will also allow for familiar characters to return even though their original actors have since passed away.

Babylon 5: The Road Home will be released on August 15th, 2023 in the US according to Amazon. The original Babylon 5 series, spinoffs, and films are available on Prime Video and Tubi. This was first spotted by Fanofthat.
