The Top 10 Titles Trending on Netflix and Disney+ for the Week of October 1, 2021

As we head into fall, there’s plenty of content on Netflix and Disney+ to keep viewers occupied as the nights get more chilly. This week, Netflix viewers haven’t backed off bingeing the streamer’s Korean thriller drama Squid Game. The violent, twisted survival game series is on track to surpass viewership records currently held by Bridgerton which debuted last holiday season. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said there’s “a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever.” It would be remarkable if Squid Game set a new record since it is a non-English title. The show’s popularity has already driven Netflix’s stocks to hit a new high this week, closing at $610.34 yesterday.

We can tell viewers are ready for spooky season with Midnight Mass ranking second on the list. The miniseries comes from the producers of The Haunting of Hill House, and takes place on an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – following the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.

Britney vs Spears is also one of the top trending titles of the week, which comes as no surprise as Britney fans are celebrating her recent conservatorship victory in the battle against her father Jamie.
