The Simpsons is ushering in a new era for its iconic sixth-grade bully, Jimbo Jones, as comedian Mo Collins steps into the role following voice actor Pamela Hayden’s retirement, Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed. Collins, known for her sharp comedic chops on MADtv and Parks and Recreation, will debut as the leather-jacketed troublemaker in this Sunday’s episode, “P.S. I Hate You,” airing April 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox per a report from Entertainment Weekly. The casting shift comes as the animated juggernaut, now in its 36th season, continues to evolve while securing a renewal through season 40 in 2028–2029.
Collins brings a wealth of experience to Springfield, having risen to fame in 1998 on MADtv, where she appeared in over 150 episodes across six seasons, delivering memorable characters like Doreen and Lorraine Swanson and spot-on impressions of Madonna and Hillary Clinton. She became a fan favorite as the eccentric Pawnee newscaster Joan Callamezzo on Parks and Recreation, appearing in 20 episodes, and later joined Fear the Walking Dead as Sarah Rabinowitz, transitioning from recurring to series regular. Her TV resume also includes Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Modern Family, with voice work on Family Guy, King of the Hill, and American Dad, making her a natural fit for The Simpsons’ irreverent world.
Pamela Hayden, who voiced Jimbo, Milhouse, and others like Rod Flanders and Malibu Stacy from season 2 to 35, announced her departure in November 2024, calling it a “not easy” goodbye after decades on the “funny, witty, and groundbreaking” show. “The time has come for me to hang up my microphone,” she said, reflecting on her honor in shaping Springfield’s youth. A new voice for Milhouse is slated to be revealed later this season, keeping fans on edge for more casting news.
Sunday’s episode, “P.S. I Hate You,” centers on Marge Simpson facing a blackmailer threatening to expose her inner anger, promising classic Simpsons humor with Jimbo’s debut under Collins’ voice. Collins, recently spotted at the Pasadena Playhouse’s La Cage aux Folles opening on November 17, 2024, is expected to bring her signature blend of edge and hilarity to the bully, potentially refreshing the character for longtime viewers and newcomers streaming on platforms like Disney+.
