Cord Cutters News

The RSN MSG’s Direct to Consumer Streaming Service Will Launch This Summer

Do you live in the New York area and watch to watch the regional Sports Network MSG? Good news starting this summer, you will be able to directly subscribe to MSG with MSG+ and get live feeds of the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils.

Initially, the service was to launch in the Spring of this year, but MSG decided to push it back until the summer to make sure it had content to show. The fear was that since MSG has no MLB franchise, there wouldn’t be enough content over the summer to support the streaming service.

Launching right before the start of the NBA and NHL seasons would allow to build up a following by offering access to in-market sporting events from the NBA and NHL, according to Sports Pro Media.

A growing number of RSNs are moving to offer a subscription service to cord cutters. Bally Sports launched a $ 20-a-month streaming service in 2022. Yes, Network is reportedly preparing to launch its own streaming services later this year.

Increasingly regional sports networks are looking for ways to offset declining subscriber numbers. Outside of DIRECTV STREAM and fuboTV, very few streaming options are out there for cord cutters.
