The RSN MSG Launches Its MSG+ Stream Service at a Crazy High Price

Do you live in the New York area and watch to watch the regional Sports Network MSG? The good news is that you can now directly subscribe to MSG with MSG+ and get live feeds of the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils. The bad news is they want a crazy high price for the service.

Today MSG quietly launched its MSG+ streaming service will cost $29.99 a month or $309.99 a year. Don’t want to pay that just to watch one or two games? MSG+ will let you watch a single game for $9.99 per game.

The New MSG+ service will also offer the ability to see live betting odds, personalized offers, and support on more devices.

Initially, the service was to launch in the Spring of this year, but MSG decided to push it back until the summer to make sure it had content to show. The fear was that since MSG has no MLB franchise, there wouldn’t be enough content over the summer to support the streaming service. Now the service has quietly launched in what looks to be a soft launch before the big rollout.

Right now, there doesn’t seem to be great app support, but you can now sign up for the service. If you have a pay TV provider that includes MSG you will be able to also link your TV provider to MSG+ to get free access.

A growing number of RSNs are moving to offer a subscription service to cord cutters. Bally Sports launched a $ 20-a-month streaming service in 2022. Yes, Network is reportedly preparing to launch its own streaming services later this year, and the Cubs plan to offer a streaming service in time for the 2023 MLB season.

Increasingly regional sports networks are looking for ways to offset declining subscriber numbers. Outside of DIRECTV STREAM and fuboTV, very few streaming options are out there for cord cutters.
