The Roku Channel Will Exclusively Premiere ‘Cypher’ Series March 19

Roku announced today that it will be the exclusive home of the new scripted series “Cypher” which will premiere on The Roku Channel on March 19. The seven episode series will be available for free for viewers in the US and Canada.

In “Cypher,” viewers will follow FBI cryptanalyst Will Scott (Martin Dingle Wall, Home & Away, COPS L.A.C.), who is enlisted to crack a coded document, which is revealed to be a hit list. Will soon finds himself in the crosshairs of the bad guys who want their list back. He must navigate the murky waters of loyalty and betrayal amongst an underground ring of hackers, hit men and FBI agents – all as the clock ticks in pursuit of the latest targets.

The addition of the series with exclusive streaming rights is a sign of what’s to come from the free streaming service. The Roku Channel will also be the exclusive home of the shows and movies created for Quibi, including content that had not yet been released on the app before it shut down.

“Tens of millions of streamers have embraced The Roku Channel as their go-to destination to watch more than 40,000 free movies and TV shows and we are constantly seeking licensing deals to deliver incredible free content to our users,” said Rob Holmes, VP, Programming, Roku. “Roku’s exceptional audience scale and monetization capabilities have enabled us to rapidly grow The Roku Channel into one of the top AVOD channels on our platform today, more than doubling audience reach and streaming hours year-over-year in 2020. Our partnership with Aroma Studios and United Bros for the exclusive licensing and premiere of Cypher aligns with our broader AVOD content strategy that will continue to drive the growth of The Roku Channel going forward.”
