The Roku Channel is Now Available on Fire TV

Roku announced today that its free streaming service The Roku Channel is now available on Amazon Fire TV devices, including Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and Fire TV Edition soundbars in the US.

“Today, we’re building on our commitment to make The Roku Channel even more accessible by expanding onto streaming devices such as Amazon Fire TV. We know how much customers crave free entertainment and we’re thrilled to bring The Roku Channel to even more households,” Roku said in a blog post sharing the announcement today.

You can use Alexa to download the free app by saying “Alexa, find The Roku Channel app” into your Alexa Voice Remote, a paired Echo device, or Fire TV Cube. When it’s downloaded, say Alexa, find The Roku Channel” or “Alexa, open The Roku Channel” to open the app.

With The Roku Channel, you can watch thousands free movies and TV episodes across over 115 live/linear channels.

Roku estimates that 43 million people were using The Roku Channel to watch free TV and movies as of Q2 2020.

The app will begin rolling out on Fire TV devices today. If The Roku Channel isn’t available on your device now, check back later this afternoon.
