The Roku Channel is Expanding Into Live Sports

Today Roku announced that they are expanding their popular free streaming service The Roku Channel into live sports. This comes a few months after Roku first added live content to the free add supported service with the addition of news networks including ABC News, Cheddar, Newsmax, Newsy, People TV, and Yahoo. Now Roku has added Adventure Sports Network, COMBT GO, EDGEsport, Stadium, and Wham Network, among others to add live sports to The Roku Channel.

Roku will also be adding the latest in viral videos from networks like TMZ, AFV, FailArmy, People Are Awesome, Pet Collective and more as they expand the line up of what you can watch with The Roku Channel.  Roku did not say when these new channels will start going live on their streaming service, but a quick search of their site showed most of them are now live.

“Cinedigm is proud to continue our partnership with Roku, as we bring COMBAT GO and WHAM Network to one of the best-selling streaming devices on the market,” said Erick Opeka, President of Cinedigm Digital Networks. “Martial arts and esports have quickly emerged as two of the most popular sports in the world. Now, with the additions of COMBAT GO and WHAM Network, Roku users will be able experience this global phenomenon first-hand, as they discover and enjoy a diverse range of hard-hitting martial arts action and in-depth esports programming carefully curated by the industry’s top experts.”

So what is The Roku Channel? The Roku Channel is Roku’s new streaming service that offers 100% free movies and TV shows all in one place.
