The Roku 3 weighs 5 ounces and, according to the Roku.com store, the Roku 4 weighs 0.9 pounds. (A pound is 16 ounces so the Roku 4 should weigh about 14.4 ounces.) What could cause a device that is only twice the size of the Roku 3 to be almost three times its weight?
Let’s say a large heat sync and larger case accounts for an additional 5 ounces. That still leaves 4.4 ounces of unaccounted for weight.

Roku is likely holding back the size of the internal hard drive as an additional selling point before the Roku 4 comes out with a big press release to keep the Roku 4 in the news. If they are holding back for that reason it must be an impressive improvement over the Roku 3s 256 MB of internal flash storage.
The Fire TV supports 2 GB RAM compared to the Roku 4s 1.5 GB of RAM. It also has 8 GB of internal storage and lines up with all the other features of the Roku 4 including quad-core and the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard. Yet it fits all that in about half the size and only 9.5 ounces.
So it is starting to look like the Roku 4 may be hiding something and that may be a much larger internal flash storage. Right now all we can do is guess and wait for Roku to officially announce what the Roku 4 will have.
On a unrelated note Amazon has many SSD 1TB drives that weigh less than a 5 ounces… Not saying the Roku 4 will have a 1TB SSD drive just saying there is room for one…
