‘The Office’ Spinoff ‘The Paper’ Is Headed to Peacock This Fall

The Office spinoff The Paper

If you’ve been longing for awkward office banter, uncomfortable meetings, and the sound of a copier jamming at the worst possible moment, your wait is almost over. Peacock is reviving the workplace mockumentary magic with The Paper, a brand-new spinoff of The Office debuting in September 2025.

Co-created by The Office’s Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, The Paper brings familiar chaos to a new workplace, from Scranton to Toledo. The new spinoff trades in Dunder Mifflin’s printers for a printing press and follows the passionate new publisher of a struggling local newspaper called The Truth Teller, who’s determined to bring the newsroom back to life, one chaotic staff meeting at a time.

Everything We Know About The Paper

This documentary-style format swaps the sales reps with journalists and brings in a new ensemble cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Eric Rahill. To link the Dunder Mifflin universe, Oscar Nuñez reprises his role as Oscar Martinez.
During NBCUniversal’s Upfront, the cast of The Paper appeared on stage to announce that Peacock will be the exclusive home of the series. Gleeson, Impacciatore, and Oscar Nunez appeared on stage during NBCUniversal’s Upfront to announce that the series will premiere exclusively on Peacock.

It has been 20 years since The Office made its debut on NBC and during its 9-run season (found on Amazon or on Peacock), this show became a phenomenon. The pilot episode drew 11.2 million viewers, but the show peaked at 22.9 million during its 2009 post-Super Bowl episode, “Stress Relief.”

Created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and based on their UK show of the same name,  The Office would go on to be a cultural phenomenon and a launching pad for many of its stars, including Steve Carell. Merchant and Gervais will serve as executive producers of The Paper, along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.
