Here are a few of the major improvements you will find in the 3.2 update coming out later this month.

The first major update is HDR Ultra HD Premium support for video and video games. HDR gives you more and sharper colors compared to standard 4K. Netflix will be the first video app to support the new HDR Ultra HD Premium and should have over 100 HDR titles by August.

YouTube

YouTube will now support 60FPS 4K videos, offering the best possible 4K experience from YouTube.

Dolby ATMOS

Nvidia Shield is upgrading their Dolby support to Dolby’s new ATMOS standard offering the best sound experience possible.

Universal Search

Nvidia Shield, which supports over 60 apps, now supports universal search results (Sling, Google Play, Starz, YouTube, Hulu, HBO Go, VUDU, Showtime, and more).

For the first time a streaming media player will now also be a media server. Starting with update 3.2 you will be able to install the Plex Media Server on your Nvidia Shield and stream content from your Shield to your phone, tablet, or other Plex-enabled devices.

The Plex Media Server on Nvidia Shield will support the following:

You will even be able to attach an NAS server to your Nvidia Shield for additional storage and still take advantage of the power the Nvidia Shield offers.

Wondering how to get your content on to the Nvidia Shield? With update 3.2 you will be able to drag-and-drop content from your PC to your Nvidia Shield.

Put together update 3.2 keeps the Nvidia Shield on the cutting edge of streaming players.
