The History Channel is bringing a more hands-on experience right into your living room with its new History at Home digital series that will air three times a week. Tune in to new fun, educational lessons every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 11 AM ET on The History Channel’s website, YouTube and other social media platforms.
“We are currently experiencing an unprecedented moment in history,” said History’s Chief Historian, Dr. Kimberly Gilmore. “Our brand has the ability to harness its vast archive of historical content, while also delivering engaging and thought-provoking educational experiences during this intense time for both children and parents. History always gives us perspective and context to find a way forward. We hope ‘History at Home’ will provide uplifting moments of inspiration and positivity as we all get through this pandemic together.
Each lesson is geared toward motivating children to have fun learning while at home during this current health crisis. Best selling author Max Brooks hosted the first episode Monday April 20 and focused on the importance of washing your hands with soap and water and taught about the history of germs and micro-biology. Other guest hosts will include familiar faces like Laurence Fishburne from Black-ish, Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi, and Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier to name a few.
In addition to timely topics like the history of handwashing, hospitals, and toilet paper, lessons will dive into broader topics like how the states got their shapes and the secrets of Leonardo da Vinci. You can go to history.com/activities to find lesson supplements and upload your own photos and videos for a chance to be featured as “Student of the Week.”
